Week Twelve

* December volunteer opportunities are up! If you'd like to help out at one of our literacy centers in the morning, please sign up! We'd love to have you!

* It's that time of year! With the snow and cold weather, it's important that everyone brings boots, snow pants, hats and gloves everyday to school (even if it's not snowing, boots and snow pants will help keep everyone warm and clean) Also, please do a snow gear dress rehearsal with your child during our long weekend- especially zipping those coats! I have 26 students and am unable to dress everyone at once. It is a goal in Kindergarten to be able to get ready for the outdoors independently. Also make sure to label your child's snow gear. Many times children have the same hats, gloves and boots and it is hard to tell them apart. Thanks for your help in this area =)

* Lakeside's Bedtime Stories event will be held on Wednesday, December 9th from 6:00-7:00 in the gym. This event takes place during the Scholastic Book Fair so it gives parents an opportunity to shop at the fair without kids! There are about 8 teachers (myself included) who will take turns reading some of our favorite children's books- make sure your child comes dressed in their comfy pjs!

* Lakeside's Holiday Concert will be on Wednesday, December 16th from 2:30-3:20. Everyone is invited to attend. The kindergarteners have been practicing two holiday songs that they will sing at the concert.

*Our holiday party will be on Friday, December 18th from 1:00-2:00. This year it will be a pj/pancake theme. I've got a group of parents who have signed up to help, but anyone else is welcome to join in on the fun!

* This time of year gets me thinking about how grateful I am to work in EGR with such kind, caring and wonderful children and with such supportive parents.  I can't thank all of you enough for your help in the classroom, and your support at home. We have had such a great start to the year! I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving break with your families = )
