Week Thirty-Four

* Scholastic Book Orders will be due by Wednesday, May 24th. This will be the last order I place so if you're looking for some new summer books to add to your child's collection at home, make sure to place your order! Please use the following activation code: LKVZW

* Some of you have probably noticed that reading bags are either not coming home, or they're coming home with a few paper books inside. I have started my end-of-year assessments so I am no longer meeting with reading groups. Your child should be able to independently read the books that are in their bag (minus 1-3 words at the most). While these are paper books, I do still need them to be returned so I can use them again with other students.

* The LBW Race will be held on Wednesday, May 31st at the EGR High School track. If your child would like to participate in this fun event with the other two elementary schools, please make sure to register your child by clicking this link: www.egrlbwrace.com  Registration ends on Sunday, May 28th.

* Friday, June 2nd will be our last day of library. I will need all books returned by Friday, June 9th. If you have misplaced a book, please let me know asap so we can figure out how much you owe to replace the missing book.

* On Friday, June 2nd we will be heading to Wealthy Elementary for Lakeside's play performance of The Lion King. We will be walking there, so no parent volunteers are needed.

Week Thirty- One

* For those of you who may have an incoming kindergartener next year, there are two scheduled parent info meetings on Wednesday, May 10th here at Lakeside. One will be held from 1:00-2:00, the other will be from 7-8pm. The format will be pretty different than in years past so hopefully you will find this beneficial and informational.


* The LBW Race will be held on Wednesday, May 31st at the EGR High School Track. It will go from 4:30-6:30. If your child would like to participate in this fun running event, please click this link to sign up! Registration closes on Sunday, May 28th.  www.egrlbwrace.com 

* Mark your calendar!! Our Poetry Party will be on Tuesday, June 13th at 2:30. I'm hoping to have at least one family member for each child present at our party (parent/grandparent/aunt/uncle). We will start the party by having each kindergartener reading a poem to the audience. We will then spend some time sharing our poems to our family members. We will end the party with an ice cream social in the courtyard with the other kindergarten classes. We hope you can make it!

Week Thirty

* EGRNow! will be raising money during the month of May by having special events every Friday at Lakeside. EGRNow! raises funds so that Lakeside can maintain our specials programs (gym, art, music, spanish) as well as providing paraprofessionals in grades K/1. Please help us keep these important programs by making a donation!

May 5th: Pajama Day... donate $1 to wear pajamas to school
May 12th: Hat Day... donate $1 to wear a hat to school
May 19th: Beach Day... donate $1 to wear a beach outfit to school
May 26th: Bake Sale... donate baked goods or bring money to buy baked goods after school

Week Twenty- Nine

* This Friday is Pajama Day here at Lakeside. Your child may bring in one stuffed animal as well if they'd like.

* We will be heading to Meijer Gardens for our 'Then and Now' field trip on Friday, April 28th. We will leave Lakeside at 8:30 and return by 11:25 for lunch. Please click the link below to sign-up to be a driver.

* The Kindergarten Art Gala is quickly approaching! It's on Wednesday, April 26th from 5-6pm in Lakeside's Learning Commons. Your child is working hard on painting a beautiful canvas picture and would love to show of his/her work. So come join us for this fun celebration! * Earth Day is on Saturday, April 22nd which means we will be spending the next few weeks learning all about ways in which we can make this Earth a better place. On Friday, April 21st we will be using recycled materials to make really cool creations. So start sending in recycled materials of all sorts. We will also need many rolls of masking tape, so please send some in as well!

Week Twenty-Seven

* We will be heading on a walking field trip to the EGR Public Library on Monday morning (March 27th). We will be walking rain or shine so make sure your child is dressed appropriately. I will not need any parent helpers for this field trip.

* April volunteer dates are up! We are going to be starting a new craft project for our Art Gala that's coming up in April. So if you are signed up to volunteer, be prepared to work with paint!

* While the weather is warming up and there is no snow on the ground, our playground still tends to be very muddy. Packing rain boots/ regular books is a great idea so the kids are tracking dirt in our classroom.
