Week Three

* Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to our parent information night this past Monday. I hope you found it to be a helpful/useful presentation. If questions/concerns pop up throughout the year, please don't hesitate to shoot me an e-mail or stop me after school to chat.

* Please make sure to send in your field trip money. We will be heading to the apple orchard in a few short weeks so we'll need everyone's checks in before that. Also, I will be sending the driver sign up for that field trip via e-mail sometime next week, so watch for that e-mail.

* I have added the kitchen schedule to the "kitchen helper" tab. Make sure to mark any dates you signed up for on your calendar! If you need to make a switch, e-mail me and let me know.

* Picture Day is next Friday, October 2nd. We got the first time slot right at 8:30 so everyone will still look fresh and clean =)

What we are learning in school...

* Literacy: We are focusing on letters, sounds, sight words and rhyming words. The sight words I have introduced so far include: I, see, can, a, an, like, and, to, is, we, you. Reading rhyming books at home is a great way to get your child hearing and thinking about rhyming words.

* Writer's Workshop: We are learning how to write stories about something that has happened in our lives. Our collages have been super helpful in generating ideas and being able to think about all the things that happened during that event.

* Math: This week we were focusing on numbers 1-5 and using counters in a five frame to show each number. We also started thinking about different combinations of 5 (i.e. 2 and 3, 4 and 1, 5 and 0).

* Social Studies: This month we are learning about our families and how different our families can be from one another.
