* Lakeside's Fun Day will be on Friday, May 30th from 12:30-3:30. Similar to "Field Day", each class will go around to different outdoor activities throughout the afternoon.

* Our Poetry Party will be held on June 2nd at 2:30 in our classroom. All family members are invited! We will have an ice cream party afterwards with the three kindergarten classes in the courtyard by Mrs. McIntosh's class.

What are we learning about in school:

* Literacy: We continue to work on blends and hearing sounds in each syllable of a word. We will be learning about nouns in the weeks to come.

* Writing: We just finished up our unit on non-fiction books. Your child was able to do "research" on an animal and then write a mini All About book on that animal. They learned about what the animal eats, what they can do, what they have on their body. We will be writing poetry during the month of May.

* Math: We have wrapped up our unit on 3D shapes and will start measurement this next week.

* Science: We are finishing up our unit on living and non-living things and will start our next unit on Earth's materials (rock, soil, water).
