* If you have volunteered to drive to the high school on Wednesday, please plan on getting to school at 12:30 and we will leave shortly after. You can either stay and enjoy the concert, or you can drop off and come back at 1:50 when the concert is over. It's totally up to you.
* The Lakeside holiday concert will be on Thursday, December 18th at 2:30 in the gym. Each grade level will be singing a song so make sure to bring your holiday spirit that day.
* Our holiday party will be on Friday, December 19th from 8:45-10:15. Like I've mentioned before, it will be a PJ/Pancake party. I will be looking for two parents (who aren't already signed up to be a helper for this party) to help flip pancakes. E-mail me if you're available. I will also need two electric skillets.
Howard, our kind and caring crossing guard, works every day to keep us safe. We would like to thank him by giving him a gift for the holiday season. If you are able and willing, please bring in a small donation of money to your teacher by Friday, December 12. The donations will be gathered and will purchase a gift card for Howard to thank him for keeping Lakeside a place where kindness and safety counts!Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness!Warmly,Lakeside Fifth Grade Safeties
What we are learning about in school...
Literacy: We have been spending a lot of time on hearing short vowel sounds as well as hearing ending sounds in words.
Writing: We continue to work on writing narratives with a first, next, last part to our stories. We will be finishing up this unit before our holiday break.
Math: We have started chapter 5 which focuses on addition. We have been using pictures and counters to help solve addition story problems.
Science: We started our next science unit which focuses on the five senses.
