Week Three

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend my parent information night this past Wednesday. I hope you all found it to be very informative and hopefully I was able to answer many of your questions. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me or stop by before/after school if you have any questions/concerns throughout the year, my door is always open.

I have quite a few important updates for this week:

* Friday folders are coming home today. Inside you will find:
  - completed work from our literacy and math centers from this week
  - a science activity we did together about motion on the playground
  - a math journal story along with a few workbook pages
  - a picture day flyer
  - the field trip information form that also indicates how much everyone owes for all the field trips          we will be attending throughout the year.

* Some of you might find a Key Card book in your child's backpack. These went to the kindergarteners who are the oldest or only attending Lakeside OR to those who did not sign the "opt out" form that was passed out during the info night. If you received a Key Card book but do not want to purchase one, please send it back on Monday.

* I'm going to extend the due date for scholastic book orders to Tuesday, Sept. 23rd for those of you who would still like to place an order. For those of you who are new to the scholastic books, I will be sending home book orders each month. The books offered changes each month and there are also a lot of themed/holiday books to choose from.

* One thing I completely forgot to talk about on Wednesday is a parent information googledoc I would like you to fill out by clicking on this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1_adjXqXFANMLe2kdQ0d81HCvkAlsohAs6l9W-Cu6KkI/viewform?usp=send_form
The purpose of this gooledoc is to collect parent e-mail addresses from everyone in our class to hand over to our room mom. I am not allowed to give out e-mail addresses, so this allows you to voluntarily give it to our room mom. If she has any reason to contact parents about holiday parties, field trip drivers, etc. she will use the e-mail address you provide on this googledoc. It is voluntary so you don't have to fill it out but just know that you will not be contacted about these events if she doesn't have one on file.

* You will also receive an invite today from Shutterfly. You will need to make a free account before you can have access to our classroom pictures. For those of you who aren't familiar with Shutterfly and are maybe skeptical about joining, you should definitely take a look on their website shutterfly.com and see all the cool things you can have done with the pictures. Once you respond to the invite, you will  have access to our pictures (it sometimes takes a day or so). And just a reminder, these pictures are only available to our class and are blocked from all other users.

* We are still looking for a kitchen helper for next Tuesday, Sept. 23rd. If you're available, please sign up so I can send the recipe home with your child!

* Volunteer days/times have been added for the whole month of October. The time slot is from 9:00-10:00 and that is during our literacy centers. If you'd like to help at that time, you can sign up for as many days as you'd like! We'd love to have you : )
