* Next Friday, February 17th we will have a Lakeside Lion (Lauren VanHoose) as Principal for the day. This was one of the ROAR auction items. She has declared the theme for the day to be 'hat day'.
What we are learning about in school...
- Reading: We continue to work on strengthening our reading powers! Now we are focusing on thinking about these 3 questions while we read: Does it sound right? Does it make sense? Does it look right? We are also working on thinking about the story and being able to retell events and predict what's going to happen next.
- Writing: We are learning all about how-to writing. So far we have learned how to tell what to do in steps, give tips and suggestions, write comparisons to better describe what we mean, draw and label diagrams, and including an ending to our how-to books.
- Math: We are learning all about teen numbers! The teen numbers are made up of a group of 10 and ___ ones i.e. 12 is a group of 10 ones and 2 ones. Hopefully by the end of this chapter everyone will have their teen numbers mastered!
- Science: We are in the middle of our five senses unit. So far we've learned all about our sense of sight, hearing and touch. Make sure to ask your child about the hands-on activities we've been doing to learn about these senses.
