Week Twenty-Two

* Friday folders came home packed! Inside you will find your child's handwriting book. We have finished learning how to correctly write all upper and lowercase letters. Please refer to this book when your child is writing at home to encourage correct letter formations.

* Our 100th day of school is this Wednesday! Please make sure to see my post below for details about that day. Also, just a tip when making your child's shirt... Hot glue works much better than fabric glue. My kiddos who used fabric glue last year had their pieces falling off all day. Not a big deal, just a suggestion.

* Our Valentine's Party is on Thursday from 2:15-3:15. I have received about half the milk jugs, so please make sure to send those in on Monday or Tuesday so we are ready for Thursday.

* We will be heading to Circle Theatre on Friday morning to see the Curious George play. I will send a reminder email on Thursday to send booster seats in the morning.

What we are learning about...
- Literacy: we are focusing on stretching words to hear blends at the beginning of a word (crab, drum, spin, etc.) as well as hearing the correct vowels sounds.
- Writing: we are still writing how-to books. Right now we are adding tips or suggestions as well as comparisons to our how-to's.
- Math: we are finishing up our unit on teen numbers. The big focus is to recognize that a teen number is a group of ten and some more ones. i.e. 17 is a group of 10 and 7 ones.
- Science: we are finishing up our unit on the five senses.
- Social Studies: we will begin learning about patriotism.
