Week Five

Everyone looked so nice this morning for picture day! We were able to go right at 9:00 so we could get them done before the kids start to get messy! We've had a couple of long days with all the indoor recess this week, but with lots of movement breaks throughout the day, we're keeping our energy under control =)

Here are my updates for this week:

* Conference forms are coming home today. I must have these back by Tuesday, October 7th. I will be assigning times on Wednesday so it's very important that these forms are returned on time. Please keep in mind, whatever day/time you get in the fall will be the same day/time in the spring. So make sure to specify if you have a preference and I will try my best to grant you that request.

* Inside Friday folders you will find:
      - Conference form
      - Our class phone tree (this is only to be used in case of an emergency during the school day
      - Box tops collection board- we're having a MSU vs. U of M competition in the office for this
      - October book orders- due October 24th
      - Math journal pages
      - Activity pages from literacy and math centers

* All of you should have received a letter about our all-school code red drill scheduled on Tuesday, October 7th. On Monday, I will have a quick review with my class about this. I am keeping my conversation with them very brief and simply saying, "a code red drill is where you need to listen to your teacher's directions immediately and go to our special place in the classroom (the bathroom)." That's it. So if you talk with your child at home about this, please try to reiterate that when they hear "code red" they just need to listen and follow their teachers directions.

* Library books are coming home today. Your child was able to pick out a non-fiction book as well as a fiction book. We talked about keeping these books in a special place at home (on their night stand, in a special book basket, etc.) that is safe and away from pets and baby siblings. As soon as you're done reading the books at home then you can return them anytime throughout the week. Please make sure they are back by the following Friday so they can check out two new books.
