Week Ten

* In honor of Veteran's Day, please have your child wear red, white and blue on Monday. Also, don't forget about our whole-school Veteran's Day Assembly at 2:30 on Monday. Everyone is welcome!

* The Lakeside Kindergarteners have voted to have the whole school wear their pajamas on November 14th. Please click on this link: www.schooltube.com/video/ee1ff8825d7b40f6905d

* School pictures are coming home today in your child's blue homework folder. They are all SO cute!

* Book bags will start coming home again next week. Many parents have been asking about the bags, wondering if their child's bag is lost... if your child brings home a zip-lock bag with a book in it, that means I don't have their reading bag....if they don't have their reading bag at home then I probably have it here and I just haven't met with their group yet. So if you get a zip-lock bag, then start looking for that book bag!

What we are doing in school....

* Literacy: we are working on rhyming words and building CVC words (i.e. cat, pet, fin, mop, cup). If you have magnetic letters at home, you can have your child build CVC words with the letters. This helps to practice vowel sounds as well as isolating individual sounds in a word.

* Math: we are learning about flat shapes and the different attributes that describe those shapes. We are also doing a lot of number writing and counting on a daily basis.

* Science: We are finishing up our Forces and Motion unit. Ask your child: "What is a force?" AND "Why was the golf ball harder to move without touching it than the ping-pong ball?" We did a lot of investigating this week!
